The Nash Jacket

Somewhere between a blazer and a good idea, there's the Nash.

It started with a question we couldn't answer: why does every men's jacket come with a pair of lapels the wearer never asked for? Lapels want a tie. They want a lunch to go to. The Nash wanted neither, so we took them away, stood the collar up, ran five buttons down a clean front, and found we'd made the jacket that gets worn on the days the blazer stays on its hanger — over a T-shirt on a Tuesday, over a shirt at dinner, on a plane, off a bike.

Underneath the calm, it's a properly tailored thing. Two-piece sleeves that bend where your arm does, a fully lined body with a pleat at the back so you can reach for something, a jetted pocket with a flap on each hip and a quiet one inside for your phone. You choose the rest: shoulders close or easy, a centre vent or two side vents or none, working cuff buttons or a plain cuff, flap pockets or patch.

And it's drafted for you, from your measurements — chest, waist, hip, back length, arms, and the bicep, because a big arm deserves a sleeve that admits it. The pattern arrives as a PDF at your size with every seam allowance printed on the piece and a step-by-step booklet with videos for the parts that scare people (the pockets; it's always the pockets). You print it at home or send it to a copy shop at A0, and you cut. No grading, no compromise, no "size 50, roughly."

It's named for a two-year-old in our family who wears no lapels either and is doing fine.

Made to measure. Made by you. Made to be reached for.
